HOVER FOR DESIGN STATEMENT
In the Presence of Wildness is inspired by the delicacy within wildness. The piece explores stealth and beauty within a female community - some inspiration coming from herd and flock behavior. Lighting treated the piece within two main spaces: a cave and an open plain. The cave was a symbol of shelter and protection. Lighting established the cave as an atmosphere that felt soft, cold and familiar within the herd. Soft blues and natural cool colors entered the space to highlight the delicacy within the herd. Lighting treated the plain as another character within the piece, creating grand sunrises with vibrant and lush textures to fill the space. Warm, bold sunlight wrapped the dancers and swept the stage with a powerful energy.
